MedAmerica Billing Services, Inc. Expands Modesto Campus

May 21, 2014: MedAmerica Billing Services, Inc. first opened their flagship office located at 1601 Cummins Dr. in Modesto in 1993. Since then, the company has expanded to three surrounding buildings, creating a four-building campus within the West Campus Business Center. This month, with tenet improvements completed, the company moved into the building immediately adjacent to their main office. "We pride ourselves in using local labor and local businesses in this expansion.", states Jimmie Proffitt, President and COO of the company. "We were pleased that we could keep things local, and add to the economy of the Modesto Community."

Moving into additional offices, consisting of 16,000 square feet, located at 1581 Cummins Drive, the company continues to grow, and to create new jobs for people in Modesto and surrounding areas. MedAmerica Billing Services, Inc. - better known as the acronym, MBSI, is a Diamond Level member of the Modesto Chamber of Commerce, having won the "Chamber Member of the Year" award in 2012, for their contribution to the community. Almost 300 employees were hired during that year alone. This year, MBSI continues to hire people to support the ever-growing number of hospital and urgent care sites that serve as clients to the company.

Partnering with developers Tony and Matt Bruno, owners of TDR Inc., in Turlock, and Sue-Ann and Randy Anderson of Sara Anderson Properties, LLC. In Modesto, (who recently purchased and executed major external renovations of the property), MBSI spent over $1.5 million in the tenant improvement and redesign of the expansion of new office space. Local subcontractors used in the renovation were Cooksey' Roofing, Flooring Liquidators, and DeHart Plumbing, Heating and Air, Inc. - all based in Modesto, and ACME Electric Co. from Turlock. "We were able to refurbish and modernize a 1970's building that was in poor shape and had been unoccupied and empty for over three years. It was a great opportunity for needed business space, and it feels really good to partner with the Brunos and Andersons to help revitalize a portion of this business park." says Proffitt.

In the same building complex, MBSI plans on an additional 21,500 square feet that will be renovated and occupied by 2015. "MedAmerica takes a building and really makes it a beautiful place to work.", says Sue-Ann Anderson. "I'm happy that we are able to partner with them and help add new jobs to this area."

MBSI Celebrates 20th Anniversary

MedAmerica Billing Services, Inc. had a very happy and enthusiastic crowd celebrate in Modesto on March 20th, 2013. Starting the day with a huge jolt of energy, 500 employees shuttled to the Doubletree Hotel in Modesto to undertake a 2 ½ hour training session presented by national best-selling author, speaker and MBSI's own Employee Development Coach, Anne Bruce and Aric Bostick, noted author and professional speaker. Ms. Bruce opened with an articulate opener, and Aric got everyone "FIRED UP!" with his presentation, invoking everyone to always support each other and fire up their energy, and effort, every day!

After the motivating presentations, everyone returned to the Modesto campus, where a huge tent was set up in the parking lot. There was a company-sponsored barbeque lunch, featuring tri-tip, chicken, salad, and potato salad for all. Once lunch was finished, James V. Proffitt III, the President and COO of MBSI, gave an hour-long presentation to everyone. Mr. Proffitt’s presentation revealed the company progression from start-up in 1993 to present day – outlining the how the company has grown from a group of about 40 people to now over 600 people in the Modesto office alone. He also went over pertinent financial and medical site growth over the past 20 years. In an attempt to update and simplify the company mission statement, Mr. Proffitt revealed the new mission statement to be: MBSI CARES. Rounding out his often humorous and interactive presentation, Mr. Proffitt presented awards and bouquets of flowers to 11 employees who have been with the company 20 years or more.

Rounding out the day of celebration, a Cup Cake Truck rolled up to the tent at the end of Mr. Proffitt's presentation. All the employees were treated to a sweet cupcake dessert, before departing early for the rest of the day.

The Ontario, CA and the Green Valley, AZ offices both celebrated with their employees on March 26th, 2013, with gala lunches for all employees at those offices. Mr. Proffitt gave an encore presentation in person at the Ontario office, and Terrie Avila, MBSI Director of Coding and Compliance, gave the presentation to the staff in Green Valley.
